See What We Have Been Doing
August 18, 2021 See What We Have Been Doing
Since 2019, even though many of the students and staff have not been in school due the pandemic, the Kurka Fund has been busy behind the scenes funding many of the following:
Purchased 2000+ children’s face masks for use in the LAUSD Medical and Immunization Clinics
$17,000 to School Nursing for supplies and lab coats for LAUSD School Nurses, LVN’s and School Physicians so they could provide COVID 19 testing and vaccines during the pandemic. These supplies also enabled school nurses and physicians to provide necessary health and medical services and other immunizations.
$10,000 Grant, (annually as needed), to the Essilor Foundation to provide free glasses (frames and lenses) for thousands of children who receive their exams and vision care in the LAUSD Vision Clinics with Kurka Health Fund assistance.
$9,000 to the LAUSD Vision Clinics for the purchase and repair of equipment
$10,000 donated to the California Community Foundation when the LAUSD Superintendent appealed for support of the academic needs of students while at home during the pandemic. Also contributions went to the LAUSD Grab and Go Food Programs to address the food insecurities of students and families during the COVID 19 Pandemic.
$15,000 Used to purchase CPR Mannikins and supplies for each Local District’s Nursing Office to provide CPR Training for School Nurses and District Staff.
$4000 Grant given to District Nursing Services and LAUSD District Health and Human Services for professional development programs.
We appreciate all the wonderful people who donated over $7500 by participating in the Non-Event Fund Raiser in June 2021. Thank you for your generosity.
